How does the free consultation work?

It's a 30-minute conversation, usually by phone or Zoom but happy to do it in our studio. We'll talk about your student, your goals, your schedule, and any prior test scores. There's no obligation and no sales pitch.

Where are you located?

Do you tutor online?

Yes — Zoom-based one-on-one sessions are identical in structure and price to our in-studio sessions. Many of our students from Laughlin, Fort Mohave, Kingman, and Lake Havasu City work with us remotely.

Will my student have the same tutor every week?

Yes. Continuity is the whole model. The instructor who runs your diagnostic is the instructor who'll teach every session and write your final test review.

What ages and grades do you work with?

Third grade through twelfth grade for academic tutoring. Test prep students are almost always sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Do you take students with IEPs or 504s?

Yes. We've worked with extended-time accommodations, small-group testing, reader and scribe accommodations, and a wide range of learning differences. Bring the documentation to your consultation.

How much does it cost?

Single sessions range from $85 (K–12 academic tutoring) to $120 (admissions consulting). Multi-session packages save 10–15%. See our pricing page for a full table.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Our 12-week SAT plan can be paid in three monthly installments at no extra cost. The senior admissions package can be paid in four installments.

Do you guarantee a score?

No reputable tutor does. We do offer a written re-plan, free of charge, if your two-mock average is more than 50 points below your stated target heading into test week.

When should we start SAT or ACT prep?

For an October test, start no later than the first week of July. For a March or May test, start in early January. The earlier you start, the lower the weekly hour load needs to be.

How long are your sessions?

60 minutes is our default. Drill sessions are 90 minutes. Diagnostic and full-length practice tests are 2.5–3 hours.

Are sessions one-on-one or in a group?

Default is one-on-one. We also offer small-group sessions (capped at four students) at a lower per-student price for friends who want to prep together.

What materials do we need to buy?

Nothing. We provide all SAT and ACT workbooks. For K–12 tutoring, we use your school's textbooks and assignments.

Do you work in the summer?

Yes, and summer is some of our most productive time. Lighter family schedules, longer sessions, and the chance to either catch up or get a real head start before fall.

Do you help with AP exams?

Yes — AP Calc AB/BC, AP Statistics, AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP US History, AP US Government, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics 1. We'll tell you honestly if we're not a great fit for a specific AP.

Do you help with college essays?

Yes — our admissions program includes personal-statement coaching, supplemental essays, the Common App, recommendation strategy, and interview practice.

Can you help us pick which colleges to apply to?

Yes, that's a core part of our admissions program. We build a list of 8–12 schools that fit both academic goals and the family's budget.

What if my student is in middle school but already wants to start SAT prep?

We'd usually push back gently. The best preparation for the SAT in middle school is strong reading habits and solid Algebra I — we'd focus our work there.

How do we know if you're a good fit?

The free consultation is designed to answer that. If after thirty minutes either side feels it isn't a fit, we'll happily refer you to one of two other tutors in Bullhead City we trust.

Do you tutor adults preparing for the GED or HiSET?

Yes. We work with a handful of adult learners every year — usually one evening session per week, paced at the student's own speed. The hourly rate is the same as our K–12 academic tutoring.

What's your background?

Richard Campos founded the studio in 2017 after nine years teaching high school math and English in Arizona and Southern California. He holds an M.Ed. from Arizona State and has personally coached more than 600 students through the SAT, ACT, and college admissions.

Do you tutor for the PSAT?

Yes — and for sophomore students with National Merit ambitions, we recommend starting in early summer of sophomore year. The PSAT/NMSQT in October of junior year is when National Merit qualifying scores are set.

Can siblings share a package?

Sessions in a package are tied to a single student, but we offer a sibling discount of 10% on the second student's package when both are enrolled at the same time.

Do you do group classes or boot camps?

Not at this time. We've tried it twice and both times concluded that one-on-one produces meaningfully better outcomes for the same parent investment. Small-group sessions (2–4 students) are available for friends who want to prep together.

How do you measure progress?

Two ways. First, a weekly five-minute written report sent to the parent every Friday — what we worked on, how the student did, and what's next. Second, a proctored full-length practice test at week nine and week twelve, with a graded score and a written analysis.

What if my student misses a session?

Sessions canceled more than 24 hours in advance are rescheduled at no charge. Same-day cancellations are billed at half rate unless there's a documented illness or family emergency.

Do you work with homeschool families?

Yes — about 15% of our students are homeschooled. We can coordinate with parent-teachers on curriculum or work independently from grade-level workbooks.

Will my student get homework?

Yes, but we cap it. Twenty to forty minutes a night for K–12 tutoring; thirty to fifty minutes a night for SAT/ACT prep students. We'd rather have ten focused minutes than a wasted hour.

Do you help with scholarship applications?

Yes, included in our admissions package. We help students identify scholarships they actually qualify for and coach the essays — including local Mohave County and statewide Arizona scholarships that families often don't know about.

Can my student record sessions?

Yes. Many of our students record their sessions on their phone or laptop and replay them later in the week. We encourage it.

What testing center do you recommend in our area?

Mohave Community College's Bullhead City campus is the closest official College Board and ACT testing site. Lake Havasu City, Kingman, and Las Vegas are the next-closest alternatives.

Do you help with the Common App itself?

Yes. The mechanical work of completing the Common App — activities list, additional information, recommender management, deadlines — is part of our senior admissions package.

What if my student wants to apply to a service academy?

We've coached three USNA and West Point applicants in the last five years. The path is different (nomination process, fitness test, medical exam) and we'll be honest about whether our coaching is the right fit before you commit.

How early can we book summer sessions?

Summer slots open March 1 each year. The most popular times — weekday mornings and Tuesday/Thursday evenings — typically fill by mid-April.
